From Angel: Stuy UNITY Relief Efforts

Hi Guys,

First, I hope you, your families & communities are managing in the aftermath of Sandy.

I have recently received faculty updates from our Principal &
got in touch w/ Ms. Weinwurm as of today so as to plan Stuy relief efforts for next week.
Our Mayor confirmed that school will resume Monday.

She got in touch w/ her SU President (Adam Lieber) & asked me to get in touch w/
the SPARK clubs on setting up on-going relief efforts/support at our school.

I will be going into the school building on Friday (building has been cleared to enter)
to meet w/ Ms. Zhang & other Administration.

I will later email U sometime Friday afternoon/evening w/ updates.

You can then reach out/FB your members & we'll see what is the best way to coordinate coverage etc.

Please if you know of any Stuy students, their families who were displaced (i.e. Queens, Staten Island)
from their homes, in shelters & going through hardships then please inform me
so I can notify Administration & get additional help to them as soon as possible.

I will be reaching out to the Parents Association as well. I am sure they want to be on board.

Okay, this is all for now & I will keep everyone posted. Thank you in advance!

Kind regards, AC

Meeting Tomorrow!

Tomorrow will be our Ally Week party!!! There will be music and food and other SPARK clubs (BSL, ASPIRA I believe...)! It's going to be great and SO MUCH FUN!
Because of a substantially larger group, the meeting will be in THE TEACHER'S CAFETERIA. NOT 738. If you do not know where the teacher's cafeteria is, it is right outside the student cafeteria.
And TSHIRTS! Bring in $15 for one and DON'T FORGET IT!! We want to take a club picture of all of us wearing them :)
GET EXCITED!!!!

TShirts!

Alright guys, the club tshirts came in! They will be $15. You can buy them at the next meeting and we want to take a group picture of all of us in them so please bring in money!!
If you cannot afford one, either message/email Emma or talk to Angel and they will be able to work something out.

NO MEETING TOMORROW

Reminder that there will be NO meeting tomorrow because of rapid dismissal for the open house. But please come to next week's meeting, when we get to meet Alex from Live Out Loud, the organization that works closely with GLASS and other high school GSAs in the city. We will be discussing labels in the LGBT community. Hope to see you there!

Ally Week!

Ally Week is coming up, the week of the 15-19, and is part of October "Respect for All Month"! It is a week when we promote diversity and respect for everyone, regardless of sexuality or gender orientation.
And that means we need your contributions! We will be running a table in the 2nd floor entry, right by the scanners and senior bar. Pamphlets will be given out, as well as pins and notebooks and other merchandise (so you can support GLASS!). The schedule to work the table has already been set, but please feel free to check it out!
Also, POSTERS. If you have any poster ideas, please check the facebook group for our PR's email or email them to carolynfisher96@aol.com (who will then send your posters along their merry way).
We hope to see you there!!
