SHIRTS ARE FOR SALE AT EVERY MEETING. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING ONE JUST MENTION IT TO ME AT THE BEGINNING OR END OF THE MEETING!!! THEY NEED TO BE SOLD. ALL MEMBERS SHOULD HAVE ONE BECAUSE:
1. THEY SHOW CLUB PRIDE
2. THEY ARE RELATIVELY CHEAP (MOST CLUB SHIRTS ARE $25. OURS ARE $15. WE DID THAT ON PURPOSE. BECAUSE WE LOVE YOU MORE THAN OTHER CLUBS LOVE THIER MEMBERS
3. IT IS A F*U*N*D*R*A*I*S*E*R. WE NEED FUNDS. GLASS IS A PRETTY SMALL CLUB. IF WE SELL ALL THESE SHIRTS, WE WILL HAVE MORE FUNDS FOR FUN STUFF LIKE GAY DAY. YOU CAN MAKE THAT AWESOMENESS HAPPEN.

THE YEARBOOK PHOTO HAS BEEN POSTPONED. WE ARE TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER DATE TO DO IT, PROBABLY AT THE BEGINNING OF A MEETING IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW

Minutes from 11.14

LoL Workshop about recent politics and the LGBT community and about equality for LGBT people

• Alex led LGBT political discussion in past few weeks
• 3 states passed gay marriage (Maine, Maryland, Washington) by popular vote, 1 state made it not illegal
• pansexual, openly gay in Congress (more minorities in congress!)
• Obama: first president to openly advocate for gay marriage
• break up into groups, issue cards given out (diff. issues in LGBT community, NOT including marriage equality)
• MUST put cards in order of importance
• think: what makes something an issue
• issues: hate crime, LGBT healthcare, LGBT youth homelessness, job discrimination, immigration, adoption issues, LGBT clergy, prison reform, elder care discrimination
• where should marriage equality fall? --> near top of list
• marriage is unity with many rights grated to couple, including emotional, psychological, philosophical and validation
• be able to normalize
• many of these issues (immigration, adoption, elder care( liked to marriage)
• Steve (visitor) talks about marriage=
• financial consultant for nonprofit organizations, director of Identity House (one of the the oldest LGBT communities) --> safe place for people to come together (peer counseling) 
• focus on equality not marriage
• has to overcome the thinking of a two-class society
• believes the "mainstream world" (the straight privileged world) drew the separation between same- and different-sex marriages

Upcoming Meetings!

This Wednesday will be the Live Out Loud workshop

No meeting the 21st because of Thanksgiving break.

On November 28th, the club picture for the Indicator will be taken. Wear the club tshirt!! If you do not yet have the shirt, they will be sold this Wednesday and on the 28th.

2012 Elections!

Tonight is a historic night for the LGBT community.  Because so much has happened, a list is required:

1. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, became the first openly-lesbian person to be elected to the US Senate
2. Patrick Maloney of New York became the first gay Congressman elected
3. Maryland legalized same-sex marriage via popular vote
4. Maine legalized same-sex marriage via popular vote 

If you were not following the elections, Barack Obama has also been re-elected.

Because of all of this, tomorrow's meeting will certainly be one full of optimism for the future, especially for the LGBT community. Be excited!!!
